Fire in the sky Yes I recognize A sign of a time I draw my sword to fight I cannot simplify I’ve got to tell you why It’s to destroy the lies And to save the lives The plague it comes From the Middle Kingdom The place that produced The highest wisdom But now what they do With the basic freedom Crushing Uighurs, Tibetans, Falun Gong Where do we go now Now that the ground is shaking What could we have done then When we had the chance to take a stance Where do we go now Now that the plague is creeping What could we have done then When we had the chance to take a stance Hatred in their eyes Yes I recognize It’s me you despise Please hear these words of mine How long can you hide From the Father of Creation You think you can buy time From karmic retribution To all the victims Of your system If you're stuck inside Then look within You’ve got to free your mind Don’t fear the Party line It’s easy if you try Then you’ll start to fly

about

Times of Turmoil was never supposed to be. When the pandemic struck, we were working on our first LP and the song Fire in the Sky. That song addressed calamities and taking a stance against immoral phenomenas, material and immaterial. And so we tweaked it a little and released it as a single during the full lockdown in Quebec. From there things trickled down and we started recording more side projects, such as Beware. Then George Floyd happened, along with the unrest. No Brutality was born. In the midst of all the upheaval, a deeper reflection about the state of our civilization was warranted. So many civilizations, empires and dynasties came and went. Where are WE headed? This is how Rise & Fall came to be. There are no answers outside ourselves to navigate these times of turmoil. We need to be grounded, have fortitude, be clearheaded and (re)connect with core human values. As we say in French, "bon courage"!

This EP was almost entirely recorded and produced in confinement. But never mind the distance between band members, this is a truly international collaboration, with input from the UK, Italy, Holland, and the US. Regen also put the shoulder to the wheel to take control of its own sound by mixing (except the Dub version) and mastering all the songs. While Times of Turmoil can be perceived a bit rough around the edges, we're happy with the vintage roots vibe, and hope you will be too! Enjoy and don't hesitate to reach out. We're waiting to hear from you.
